Adapt courses can contain a variety of different interactive components and extensions to enhance the learning experience and engage learners. This guide details how to create a basic assessment within the course to quiz the user on the course’s content.
Add the Assessment extension
Create a course.
In the Left hand menu, click “Extensions”. Click “Add” next to the “Assessment” extension.
Click “Back to course structure”.
Set up Assessment extension
In the left hand menu, click “Project settings”.
In “Project settings”, navigate to the “Extensions” section and click “Assessment”.
Enter a value for the course’s overall pass mark and whether the overall pass mark is percentage based or uses the raw total of marks.
Click “Save” to confirm the changes.
Set up articles
On a course page, edit an article. Within the article’s setting’s page, navigate to the “Extensions” section and click “Assessments”.
Tick “Enabled”.
Set whether the assessment is percentage based or uses the raw total of marks.
Set the pass mark for this specific assessment. This is an independent pass mark of the overall passmark from the above step and specific to only this assessment.
Tick “Include in Total Score”.
Click “Save” to confirm the changes.
Add question-type components
Within the article where the assessment is enabled, add question type components.
Set the number of attempts allowed for the individual question component.
Click “Save” to confirm the changes.
Take the assessment
Ensure that the assessment behaves as expected by previewing the course. To aid with this, see the guides on How to show assessment results and Using the developer tools.
